Take a look at these books for a quick shot in the arm, or butt.

I have so many books about writing, it's embarrassing. But sometimes a girl just needs a little peptalk in the middle of the night and the only thing there is a book. Check back in soon. I'm sure I'll be adding others.

Here are some of my favorites:

• The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles by Steven Pressfield. A great kick in the pants! One of those books that jumped off the shelf when I really needed it.
• Immediate Fiction: A Complete Writing Course by Jerry Cleaver. This book got me going in the beginning.
• No Plot? No Problem! by Chris Baty. The companion book to NaNoWriMo. A must have during November.
• How to Write a Dirty Story, Reading, Writing and Publishing Erotica by Susie Bright. The bible for writing erotica.
• Sex for One, The Joy of Selfloving by Betty Dodson, Ph.D. Not a writing book, but necessary all the same.
• If You Want to Write, A Book about Art, Independence and Spirit by Brenda Ueland. I bought the tape of this book twenty years ago and listened to it every day.
• How to Write a Damn Good Mystery by James N. Frey. You can tell what I'm working on now!
• THE ABSOLUTE BEST SO FAR: The Comic Toolbox by John Vorhaus. I'm writing outlines now -- and actually following them. What a concept! Ha!

Some Personal Advice for Writing Erotica

Don't be ashamed that this is what you want to write. If others can't deal with it, remember that's their problem. There's a reason erotica is so popular now.

Erotica is different that porn. Erotica has a story behind the sex.

Use a pen name to deal with the crazies.

It's never too late to buy a vibrator. I bought my first one at the age of 47.
